Community Learning Program: Wildfires at Michaux State Forest
Buttonwood Nature Center welcomes guest speakers from the Bureau of Forestry’s Michaux State Forest as we talk about fire, covering everything from wildfires and their prevention to the benefits of prescribed fire and how it can be utilized to improve forest and ecosystem health.
Marc Kaiser is the Wildland Fire Supervisor for Michaux Forest District. He has been involved with wildland fire since starting his career with DCNR 28 years ago. He holds multiple qualifications in both wildland fire suppression and prescribed fire. Marc has been leading the wildland fire program at Michaux since 2020.
Amy Shull is an environmental education specialist and service forester for Michaux Forest District. She has worked for DCNR for 23 years with both the Bureau of State Parks and Bureau of Forestry. She first became involved with wildland fire while working for the National Park Service prior to beginning her career with DCNR.
