New Grant Opportunity Honors Lifelong Commitment to Community
A new grant opportunity has been established to honor the life and legacy of Harold L. Brake, a longtime resident of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, whose devotion to service, faith and civic engagement left a lasting mark on his community.
The Harold L. Brake and Dolores K. Brake Legacy Fund, created through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC), supports nonprofit organizations that reflect the values Harold and his wife, Dolores, shared throughout their lives; compassion, integrity and a deep commitment to community.
Harold Brake passed away on Jan. 6, 2024. Through thoughtful estate planning, he ensured his dedication to others would continue beyond his lifetime. Together, Harold and Dolores created a fund that will support the region they have always called home.
“The Brakes’ generosity is a powerful reminder of how planned giving can strengthen the community and create opportunities for meaningful local impact,” said Jennifer Doyle, president and CEO of TFEC. “This fund is a testament to their values and their care for their neighbors.”
This opportunity is only available to nonprofit organizations with projects serving the townships of St. Thomas, Peters and Hamilton in Franklin County. Grants of up to $35,000 are available and may support a variety of needs, including basic services, community programs and initiatives that improve quality of life for local residents. The application period for nonprofits to apply is Tuesday, July 1, 2025, through Sunday, August 31, 2025.
