Program Officer for Educational Opportunities
The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) seeks an initiative-taking, dynamic individual to administer a critical part of our mission through community impact and donor support of our scholarship program.
Major Accountabilities:
- Educate and support students and families related to scholarship needs and opportunities
- Promote scholarships; collaborating closely with school counselors, colleges/universities/trade schools, community partners and others as needed
- Engage scholarship fundholders to build relationships, share scholarship information and communicate relevant TFEC information
- Engage the community in educational opportunities through presentations, collaborations and meeting attendance
- Establish efficient processes and procedures aligned with each scholarship criteria
- Lead and support scholarship committees in their review and evaluation of applications
- Maintain and manage a caseload of scholarship funds to include:
- Provide oversight of each scholarship fund process
- Assess and analyze applications
- Prepare meeting materials
- Convene committee meetings
- Facilitate committee meetings
- Executing award determinations
- Coordinate presentation of awards
- Monitor and process tuition payments
- Assist with the establishment of new scholarship funds
- Document scholarship fund processes and enter into TFEC’s scholarship database
- Collaborate with other departments to support scholarship fund administration, specifically the Finance and Marketing & Communications Teams
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector preferred
- Experience coordinating and engaging committees
- Experience facilitating meetings in person and virtually
- Excellent time management skills
- Meticulous, creative and adaptable
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
- Some experience working with databases
- Ability to work in a challenging environment and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze situations and think critically
- Experience with public community engagement
- Comfort level with public speaking
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of the Central Pennsylvania area and the area TFEC serves
- Reliable transportation is required for local travel to schools and community partners
