“The Garretts and McCunes wander across our war ravaged Dis-United States of America in 1863. It is a time of tremendous upheaval.
Black Americans, yet to be citizens, are also drawn into the conflict as Congress allows the formation of the USCT (United States Colored Troops). All around the country courageous black leaders make their presence and their intentions known: Frederick Douglass in Washington’s Halls of Power, Harriet Tubman in the Carolinas, Andre Caillox and PBS Pinchback, in New Orleans.
With the help of a host of hopeful African Americans, the tide of war is turning. . .”
About the Author:
I was raised in Springfield, Illinois (Lincoln’s hometown), so the Civil War has always held me in its thrall. A Marine veteran out of high school, I assisted in the evacuation of Saigon and Phnom Penh. I’ve been a feature reporter, freelance writer, bartender, actor, restaurant manager and landscaper. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in history. It has long been my ambition to write Civil War fiction. just prior to the onset of Covid, I retired from teaching High School History and Journalism, I committed to writing the Snakebit Series. I am a determined writer, producing one or more chapters a week. Finished the first two novels in less than eight months. I expect the series to ultimately include 17-18 books. I love to travel, having visited all 50 states and 45 foreign countries. I am very married and have two adult children I consider my best friends. In my spare time I hike, garden, volunteer in the community and game. My avocation is the creation of historically based board games. I have 20 published games to my credit, several on the American Civil War.
